September 18

Arrive Rome International Airport transport to Podere Santa Maria. You will be staying at a rustic Tuscan house in the province of Grosseto. The property offers great hospitality and excellent services. It has been in the same family for generations and is situated on gorgeous land. Elena and Tonino will introduce you to local cuisine. All your foods are homemade and locally grown and farm raised. There its a pool and opportunity to walk around the farmhouse. We will have a beautiful welcome dinner by our hosts. Bus leaves Rome at 4 pm, please plan on arriving beforehand.

September 19

After breakfast we head to Pienza. Originally just a village like many others in the area, Pienza saw it’s history and fame change in the late 1400s.


This town was once home to Pope Pius II who had a vision of creating a perfect Renaissance town. Pienza is a beautiful hilltop town in Tuscany with a distinct character, stunning location and interesting history. There are a number of artisan shops in this town, including foods, leather, ceramic and iron works.  We will end the day with a delicious meal with local ingredients prepared by our hosts.

September 20

Winery and wellness day. In the morning we will have a walk around the property. Options for meditation and breathing exercises. Other option for a bit more intense but still light exercises. There is also an opportunity to use the pool and spa.  After a shower we will eat lunch at “the must go” in the area I Lecci restaurant. Locals attest to this restaurant’s authentic Tuscan quality. We will then head to Castello Pontentino for a wine tasting  Back at  the villa we will have a beautiful dinner with home made foods.

September 21

After breakfast we head to  Bagno Vignoni,  8 miles south-west of Pienza. This town is renowned for its volcanic springs. We will stop at a great cafe for Gelato and a shop that sells locally made organic products like teas, creams and soups. NOTE: You will have an opportunity to use the pool with thermal waters. Half day entrance is about 25 euro so bring your bathing suits.  Back to the villa with some time to relax before dinner.

September 22

On the way to San Quirico Dorcia we stop at I Lecci a fantastic restaurant where the locals eat. After a stroll we get back on the bus and head to San Quirico. This small village is in the Val d’Orcia. We will walk around the old center known for the beauty of it medieval architecture. Plenty of opportunity for shopping and why not grab another Gelato? Dinner at the vill

September 23

The town of Talamone stands on a rocky promontory, located on the southern border of the Maremma Natural Park. There is a volcanic beach that is quite interesting. The town is in a dominant position over the entire stretch of coast that goes from Talamone to Monte Argentario. We will have time to walk around this lovely village. Dinner back at the villa.

September 24

After breakfast we will visit San Gimignano. The city is on the ridge of a hill with its main axis being north/south. It is encircled by three walls and has at its highest point, to the west, the ruins of a fortress. We will walk around this  quaint ancient town with lots of art and history. Dinner back at the villa.  
 

Wine tasting at Castiglione del Bosco in Montalcino then stop in the town of Montalcino . The winery of Castiglione del Bosco and its vineyards sit in magnificent serenity in a UNESCO-listed Natural Park, surrounded by the mesmerizing beauty of rolling hills, acres of forest and gorgeous ridge-lines. We will have a tour tasting of wines and some cheeses to accompany the fabulous flavors. The most famous Tuscan wines are Brunello di Montalcino and Nobile di Montepulciano. Dinner back at the villa.

September 25 - Dinner

Cooking demo at the villa. But first  we will take a beautiful walk around the property soaking in the warm Tuscan sun and reflecting on your experience. One last chance for a swim in the pool or use the spa.  Later we will have an early farewell dinner
